Christian podcast [10 Jun 2008|11:17am]

watching_ships
Hi there! I've been a member of this community for a while and I just wanted to share something with you all that I thought might interest you.

I am a part of a ministry called GodlyGals (you can also find us at godly_gals) that focuses on equipping believers, providing a place for fellowship, and encouraging one another in our walks with Christ. It has been a phenomenal five years and God had blessed the ministry so much. Our growth lately has been such an encouragement and I look forward to the future as we move forward to where the Lord would have us go.

We have recently ventured into podcasting and it's been so great. We get to communicate with members of our community live, as well as people who just happen to drop in. We've met so many great people that way. It's really been amazing. In our podcast we talk about a variety of topics regarding the Christian faith. I really just wanted to let this community know about it so that you could stop by for one of our live shows or listen to it later (at www.godlygals.com/blog) if you can't make it to the live show. The wider our audience, the better the show.

Feel free to share this with your friends!
Our next podcast will be:

Date: Wed, June 11, 2008

Need little prayer for courage, please... [31 Mar 2008|03:53pm]

vidmaker_19
Hi everyone. I need some prayer for courage and guidance. God has put it on my heart to start a new venture in which I would help people and work for Him. I have been thinking about this for months, and He has put it on my heart to use my life to work for His glory by helping others who are in need.

And here I am, standing at the beginning of the road that is the rest of my life, and I feel that there is two ways to go: the first one is one which I continue working for myself and my family, to make money so I can pay my bills and do my things, and the other is the path which I work solely for Him and His glory. I want to choose the second path, and I will, but I am very scared right now because doing this it may be a bumpy ride at first. Choosing the second path and working for Him, doing what I feel He has put on my heart, would include me eventually quitting my job to do His work. I know He will take care of me as only He can, but it's a bit scary because without my job I don't know how I would pay bills, but at the same time I feel that if He has put this on my heart then there must be bigger plans that He has for me. I know He will take care of me and what I need, but I'm just a little scared getting started because of personal risks involved.

I know I'm being totally selfish here and I should never doubt His plans and will and I will go forth in His name and bring Him glory, but it's hard right now to understand. But then again, we will never fully understand His will until He is ready for us to, right? I'm just going to go forth down this path and trust His guidance, as I should.

Please pray for me to have courage and leave my selfish ways behind. Thank you.

Hi, I'm new here [25 Jun 2007|12:11am]

[ mood | cheerful ]

Hi, my name's Gavin, I'm 19 and currently living in Brisbane, Australia.

I grew up in a Christian family (we're Uniting Church members), and am looking for friendship (and possibly more) with a Christian girl who lives in the Brisbane area.

I enjoy reading (SciFi and Fantasy mostly), watching British comedy, going to the theater, acting and... um... other things as well.

Currently, I am studying Drama and Education at QUT, with the aim of becoming a High School drama teacher and eventually a High School Chaplain.

Feel free to add me to your friends list, I'll probably add you right back.

what exactly I can do WITH Theology? [18 Jun 2007|03:05pm]

_bp_rose
[ mood | eager ]

I'm trying to decide what to do with my life. I thought I'd want to be a teacher strickly - but I don't think I'd want to be a teacher as much as I thought. I thought writing. I really love writing, esp. if you guys will read. But lately I haven't had much gusto for it. If I have gusto it would be writing about God, esp. in some preaching like manner or some way that I can kinda counsel someone(s) about Christianity - i love helping ppl's walk with God.

Theology was my 3rd "want" and I still feel strongly about it. It will encapsulate the thing I keep gravitating towards and that's God and His words. I can't figure out what exactly I can do WITH Theology, or what career paths someone interested in Theology could take. Can you guys help me?

I don't think Pastoral work, as in leading a church, is where I should be. My husband Luke says I'm good at researching, I know I could still be a writer or Theology and someone mentioned to me working with inner-city ministries as a tutor or administrator.
More ideas?
Help!

Christian fic needs Help [01 Mar 2007|04:30pm]

I'm rallying up people to be on Beautiful Sun's Newsletter - I need more people on there so MORE people will know about the book. It's scheduled to be released for the first time (in draft format) in less than 2 weeks - March 12th. I want to give out some copies to be reviewed, edited, critiqued but I need people for that. It's free to do and you don't have to commit to doing the whole book - just a chapter or even 1 scene would be great!

Since the book Beautiful Sun: Boy Craze will be out not to long thereafter, I want to get people interested in the new book. The book is more than you can imagine (for it's genre), more scenery, more expression, and more of a storyline ^_^ aren't you glad? Boy Craze is the first in the series is out there for people between 15 and 25 mostly, that want something real, want to relate to someone like them, struggling and seeking what lifes about. AND IT IS a Christian modern fantasy O_o yes modern fantasy. So please check it out. Join the newsletter by emailing beausunnews At gmail.com or you can reply here.

If you know someone that would be interested but doesn't have internet access please reply with that info and I'll get right back to you.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13

wow hi! I have not posted in a very long time. I thought I would go ahead and do so and give you somewhat of an update. I'm married now, and I met my hubby online via the P.O.D. message board. He saw one of my posts, liked what I had to say, and saw my link to my xanga journal, and it all went from there.

Honestly, I never thought I was going to be married, and when God told me this back when I was 19, I thought he was crazy. God told me while I was in college that I was going to meet my future husband very soon and that he was going to be the next guy I met. When I was 20, I met Josh.
We eventually met at my dad's house (with my dad being there, along with Josh's mom) and I would say oh...10 or 11 months later we were married...I was 21 and he was 20. I especially never thought that I would come to meet my hubby via the internet, but it's funny how God works things out. I felt from the moment that I chatted with Josh that he was my (then future) husband.

I'm not going to discourage meeting your future spouce online, because it does happen. But I will say this. If God is not behind it, it will not work. The internet is dangerous, we all know this. That's why it's very important to make sure it is God's will, and that you have peace about it beforehand. In my case, God told me very clear that I was going to meet Josh via the internet.

We have now been married almost 2 years in December.

Anyway, I just wanted to encourage ya'll to continue to strive to keep God the center of all you do. When God's timing is right, you just know.

ut_researcher

Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin are conducting a survey to examine monogamy and non-monogamy in romantic and sexual relationships .

I would like to get your Christian perspective on monogamy. I'd appreciate it : )

The survey takes approximately an hour to complete. You must be 18 or over in order to participate. If you are interested in participating in this study, or learning more about it, please click here http://www.psychdata.com/s.asp?SID=10745
